Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, supported by an better serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early break points in a close final set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
