Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then found multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state early analysis show the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.

City officials stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.

An important political figure said the incident made him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
